Project Scope

Graycor Industrial Constructors completed above-ground construction of a 200-MMscf/d cryogenic plant for MarkWest Energy Partners L.P. at its Majorsville Processing Facility in Dallas, West Virginia. The cryogenic gas processing plant, known as Majorsville VI, is the sixth cryogenic processing unit to join the Majorsville complex.

Despite working in extremely challenging weather conditions, Graycor’s team worked around and adjusted to multiple weather-related delays in equipment deliveries by successfully modifying the construction schedule to keep the project moving forward.

The scope of work included all work, from the anchor bolts and up. Graycor self-performed a majority of the work including additional foundations, steel erection, piping installation and vessel assembly and installation, process module installation, and piping interconnections.

Graycor utilized a modified gas metal arc welding-short circuit (GMAW-S) and a flux cored arc welding (FCAW) process to weld a cylindrical stainless steel vessel, 6 feet in diameter without the use of interior backing gas. Using this specialized welding technique enabled Graycor to save days on the schedule and most importantly to minimize safety concerns and provide superior weld quality.
