Project Scope

Graycor Industrial completed three separate areas of design-build wind power project construction on the Twin Groves Wind Farm located in central Illinois’ McLean County, near Ellsworth. Graycor’s team completed installation of the switchyard, substation and connecting power, as well as was responsible for the 5.2-mile transmission line and supporting transmission towers.

The Twin Groves substation transforms 34.5kV power to 345kV power, transferring the power to the transmission line. The substation accepts power from the wind farm from eight individual 38kV circuits and combines these circuits for transmission to Blue Mound, an interconnecting substation.
